Properties and usage:
Dysentery, blood in the sputum, asthma and cough were treated with this plant during Antiquity.
Effects on the organism:
When applied as a lotion of diluted essential oil, cypress acts on varicose veins and hemorrhoids by strengthening blood vessels. To reduce excessive foot perspiration, a foot bath with cypress oil or cypress extract can be used. Taken internally, it acts as an antispasmodic and generally fortifies. It is prescribed for measles and coughing spells.
It also treats the common cold, sore throats and rheumatism pains.
Caution: its essential oil must not be ingested.
Principal constituents: essential oil, tanins.
