Properties and usage:

An aphrodisiac, it is considered an excellent tonic, diuretic, antiseptic, antidepressant and mild laxative.

Effects on the organism:

Damiana is a tonic which reconstitutes the nervous system. It is always considered an aphrodisiac. Its stimulating action is due to the presence of thymol, which is an antiseptic and tonifying ingredient.

It has a stimulating action on the body and mind. It is recommended to persons suffering from a mild depression or nervous fatigue. Its stimulating properties are very much appreciated when, with depression, the patient suffers also from panic attacks especially after a prolongued period of stress.

Damiana is often prescribed for painful or irregular menstruations, or to treat headaches associated with menstruation.

It acts on the testosterones (masculine hormones) and was used in the case of early ejaculation or impotence because it fortifies the genital organs of both sexes.
