Properties and usage:

A remedy since antiquity. Astringent, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antispasmodic, it promotes gas elimination.

Effects on the organism:

An ancient plant, used for perfumes, insence and balm, myrrh symbolizes suffering.

Excellent remedy for oral and throat infections. It can be used for gargling only, because it is little absorbed by the intestins. It heals the mucous membranes.

The astringent and antiseptic effect of myrrh make it a perfect external treatment for acne, furoncles (boils) and benign inflammations of the skin. Its drying and mildly anesthetic action make it ideal to treat lesions as a result of wearing a prothesis.

It contains phytosterols which act on the hormones. This explains its traditional use by the Indians for menstruation related problems and as an aphrodisiac.

Principal constituents: gum, resin, essential oil.
