Properties and usage:

Primrose cts as a stimulant for the bronchi and stomach. It is antispasmodic. It neutralizes acid surplus in the body and helps to expel worms.

Effects on the organism:

The flowers are antioxydant, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. The roots have a powerful expectorant effect which liquefies mucous and promotes elimination. It is recommended for chronic cough during bronchitis. The root acts on rheumatism and would also be a mild diuretic susceptible to slow blood coagulation. The leaves have a similar action. The flowers are sedative and therefore recommended for exhaustion or insomnia in children.

Also used for adult asthma and allergies.

Caution: to be avoided during pregnancy. To be avoided if allergy to aspirin is present. To be avoided during an anticoagulant treatment. Taken is high doses, it provokes diarrhea and vomiting.

Principal constituents: flavonoids, triterpenic saponines, tanins.
